Shohei Ohtani, the two-way baseball standout and recent World Series champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has announced that he and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, are expecting their first child. Ohtani shared the news on Instagram with a post featuring his dog, Decoy, lying next to a baby onesie, two tiny sneakers, and an ultrasound photo obscured by a baby face emoji. He captioned the photo, `Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon!`

Mamiko Tanaka, a former professional basketball player in Japan, played for the Fujitsu Red Wave from 2019 to 2023. The couple married in a secret ceremony earlier in 2024, just before the MLB season began.

This announcement caps off a remarkable year for Ohtani, who signed a massive $700 million contract in late 2023, won his third MVP award, and secured his first World Series title with the Dodgers.
