The match seemed destined for a draw until the 88th minute, when a handball by Blackpool's Olly Casey awarded Wrexham a penalty. Experienced striker Steven Fletcher calmly slotted the penalty home, securing the win for Wrexham.
This victory keeps Wrexham in third place in the League One standings, just a point behind Wycombe Wanderers, who are in second place. Both Wycombe and league leaders Birmingham City also secured wins on Boxing Day, maintaining the tight competition at the top of the table.
