Remo Stars Regain Top Spot in NPFL

The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) saw significant developments over the weekend, with several key matches shaping the league table.

Remo Stars climbed back to the top of the NPFL table with a commanding 2-0 victory over El Kanemi Warriors in Ikenne. Peter Onuoha opened the scoring in the 31st minute, and Franck Mawuena doubled the lead during first-half stoppage time. This win, coupled with 29 points from 16 matches, has Remo Stars leading the table on goal difference ahead of Rivers United.

In another notable match, Shooting Stars secured their first away victory of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars in the South West derby. Otakho Aghahowaā€™s 28th-minute strike was the decisive factor, boosting Shooting Stars' morale and extending Sunshine Starsā€™ winless streak to three matches.

Defending champions Enugu Rangers extended their unbeaten streak to 10 matches with a narrow 1-0 win over Rivers United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. Collins Ugwuezeā€™s 15th-minute goal was enough to secure the victory, propelling Rangers to third place on the table with 27 points.

Nasarawa United earned a crucial 1-0 win over Lobi Stars, thanks to Kamal Adejokeā€™s early goal in the 12th minute. This win helped Nasarawa United move away from the relegation zone.

Bayelsa United ended Ikorodu Cityā€™s six-game unbeaten run with a late 1-0 win, courtesy of Rabiu Abdullahiā€™s 79th-minute strike. Abia Warriors also secured a 2-1 victory over Niger Tornadoes, with Ijeoma Desouza and an Ernest Okonkwo own goal contributing to their win.

In a thrilling encounter, Plateau United outlasted Heartland 3-2 in Jos, with Sunday Anthony scoring a brace and Pam Mafeng adding another goal for Plateau United.
