Kenin beats Boulter in straight sets to advance

After defeating ninth-seeded Katie Boulter 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday, former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin advanced to the Pan Pacific Open final. In the seventh game of the second set, Kenin, the 2020 Australian Open champion and French Open finalist, broke the British player's serve, and the American served out to win the match, marking her best tournament showing of the year.
Early in 2020, the 25-year-old Kenin was rated as high as No. 4, but a string of injuries, including problems with her ankle and quadriceps, caused her WTA ranking to fall to its current 155.
