Brazil to celebrate national ‘King Pele Day’

Every year on November 19, Brazil celebrates a national holiday known as "King Pele Day," honoring the day in 1969 when the legendary football player scored what he believed to be his 1,000th goal of a career.

The official newspaper of the Brazilian government announced on Tuesday that a law approving the country's remembrance of the three-time World Cup champion had been passed by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. At 82 years old, the legendary Brazilian soccer player passed away on December 29, 2022.
