Konta 'almost bit off own tongue' at Wimbledon

The former British number one, Johanna Konta, has claimed that she nearly lost her tongue in an unusual mishap before triumphing on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

In 2019, during her fourth-round match against Petra Kvitova, Konta struck herself in the face with a medicine ball during her warm-up. Despite the discomfort, Konta persevered and won the match in three sets.

"I smashed a medicine ball into my jaw when I was warming up," she stated.
