Archibald out of Olympics after accident

Brit Katie Archibald, an Olympic gold winner in cycling in 2016 and 2020, will not compete in the Games in Paris next month due to a bizarre accident that broke her leg.

After tripping over a step in her garden, Archibald, 30, shattered two bones in her leg and tore ligaments off the bone.

Archibald says she had surgery on Wednesday to fix the breaks and ligament damage in an Instagram post published on Thursday.
