Bagnaia claims sprint-race double at Italian GP

On what was described as a "difficult weekend" for championship leader Jorge Martin, reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia won both the sprint and race events at the Italian MotoGP.

The advantage for the Spaniard Martin was reduced from 39 points to 18 after he crashed out of the sprint on Saturday and placed third in the race on Sunday at Mugello in Tuscany.

Enea Bastianini, Bagnaia's Ducati teammate, made an incredible last-minute move to pass Martin and take second place; Marc Marquez of Gresini Racing finished fourth.
