Historic 10,000m World Record Broken

Beatrice Chebet of Kenya set a new 10,000m world record of 28:54.14 at the 2024 Prefontaine Classic, becoming the first woman under 29 minutes. The race, which also served as the Kenyan Olympic trials, saw four women run faster than 30 minutes, including runner-up Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia, who moved to third on the all-time list with 29 : 05.92.
