Milan wins Giro stage 11 as Pogacar retains lead

Stage 11 of the Giro d'Italia saw home favorite Jonathan Milan defeat Tim Merlier in the last sprint to win his second stage, while Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar held onto the lead overall.

A category three climb preceded a flat second half of the 207km route from Foiano di Val Fortore to Francavilla al Mare, which gave the sprinters a chance to show off. Milan, riding for Lidl-Trek, powered to victory after winning stage four.

The stage three winner for Soudal Quick-Step As the peloton neared the finish, Merlier emerged as Milan's closest opponent; however, he made a fast turn to the right, causing Juan Sebastian Molano to suddenly stop.
