Boat Race rowers told not to enter dirty Thames

A number of people, including rowers competing in the 2024 Boat Race in London between Oxford and Cambridge, have been advised not to enter the Thames following the discovery of elevated E. coli levels.

Additionally, crew members have been advised to wear shoes when entering and exiting the boat and to cover any blisters.

Tests, according to pressure group River Action, showed the bacteria originated from sewage that was dumped straight into the river.
