SouthAfrica stand Alone after World Cup Title

The defending champions, the South Africa Springboks, braced themselves for a brutal last stand as the 2023 Rugby World Cup championship match entered its final half-minute. The renowned but troubled All Blacks of New Zealand were stacked against them, fervently attempting to win a match that, only a few weeks prior, few had thought would be possible.

A small infraction prompted a scrum, which was essentially a large-scale ball-wrestling match, and provided the All Blacks with a chance to overturn a 12–11 deficit. Devastated, Cheslin Kolbe, a Springbok who was dismissed after receiving a yellow card, covered his head with his jersey on the sidelines. One fan in the crowd had a South African flag around his neck, and tears were streaming down his face.
