Tanzania Women Edge Rwanda in Kwibuka T20I Semi-Final

Tanzania Women outclass Rwanda in the Kwibuka T20I Semi-Final, while Rwanda battles in the Quadrangular Series in Malawi.

In a gripping encounter at the Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament, Tanzania Women triumphed over Rwanda Women by 16 runs in the 1st Semi-Final. Tanzania, batting first, managed to post a modest total of 59 all out in just 15 overs. The Rwandan bowlers fought valiantly, but the batting lineup faltered, leading to their collapse at 43 runs in 17.2 overs. Rosette Shimwamana stood out for Rwanda, scoring 15 runs off 28 balls, while Sylvia Usabyimana struggled to find form, contributing only 1 run. The match showcased Tanzania`s bowling prowess, which proved too much for the Rwandan side.

As the tournament progressed, Uganda Women also defeated Rwanda Women by 20 runs in the 3rd/4th place playoff, marking a challenging outing for the hosts. This tournament is pivotal for the development of women’s cricket in Rwanda, as it provides a platform for emerging talent.

Meanwhile, Rwanda is currently competing in the Quadrangular T20I Series in Malawi, facing off against teams from Germany, Bahrain, and Tanzania. The series, hosted at TCA Oval in Blantyre, has seen Rwanda`s Emile Rukiriza shine with impressive bowling figures of 5/11, while the highest individual score so far is 62 by Sami Sohail.
