Indonesia`s Sepak Takraw team receives strong government support for the upcoming SEA Games, aiming for gold.

The Indonesian Sepak Takraw team is on the brink of a monumental journey, bolstered by unwavering support from the government. Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo has pledged full backing for the team’s preparations ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 SEA Games and Asian Games. This commitment was made during the closing ceremony of the Youth and Sports Minister’s Championship National Sepak Takraw Selection at the iconic GBK Arena in Jakarta.

In a thrilling display of skill, the South Sulawesi B team triumphed in the men’s doubles event, while the Central Java A team claimed victory in the men’s team event, showcasing their prowess against formidable provincial rivals. The selected athletes, along with top-performing coaches, will soon embark on a rigorous national centralized training program to sharpen their skills for the SEA Games, set to take place from December 9 to 20, 2025, in Thailand.

With Sepak Takraw poised to be a highlight of the SEA Games, excitement is building around the sport. Indonesia`s rich history in Sepak Takraw, marked by recent gold medal victories against Japan and strong performances from East Java`s men’s doubles team, underscores their dominance in the region. The Philippines, having recently secured a bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games, serves as a reminder of the competitive landscape, but Indonesia remains a formidable force.
