Zhang Shuai Ends 24-Match Losing Streak in Beijing

Zhang Shuai of China recorded her first main draw victory in over 600 days by defeating American McCartney Kessler (7-6, 7-6) in the opening round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing. This marks Zhang's first win since January 2023 and ends a difficult stretch of 24 consecutive losses. The 35-year-old will face Emma Navarro in the second round.
