Youcef Atal given eight-month suspended sentence

A French court sentenced Algerian defense Youcef Atal to eight months of suspended jail for inciting hate towards religion in a social media post regarding the conflict in Israel and Gaza.

In addition, Atal was ordered by the Nice criminal court to pay €45,000 (£38,886) in fines for sharing an antisemitic video on his Instagram account.


Nice, the player's club, has placed him on "until further notice" suspension.
