Although Leverkusen were champions last season, their coach Xabi Alonso does not consider them as favourites for the next Bundesliga. According to him, Bayern remain the team to beat. Alonso believes that "everything starts from scratch" and that "in relation to the group and history, it is clear that Bayern remain the favourites". Leverkusen are aiming for the top 4 and qualification for the Champions League, a "realistic" objective according to the Spanish coach.
