Spinelli wins chaotic Assen opener on WSBK debut

In a thrilling, red-flagged wet-dry first race at Assen, Nicholas Spinelli emerged victorious in his World Superbike debut thanks to a brilliant tire selection.

On the rainy Dutch circuit, Spinelli, filling in for the injured Ducati rider Danilo Petrucci, established a 25-second lead by choosing wet tires.

The other drivers on the grid, who had chosen dry tires, had a difficult start but eventually caught up to the 22-year-old Italian.
