Peru beats Bielsa’s Uruguay 1-0

Peru has won its first match in South American World Cup qualifying at the expense of coach Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay. After a lengthy winless record, the host gained momentum in the 10-team round-robin play with their 1-0 victory at home on Friday.
In the 88th minute, Miguel Araujo headed the game's lone goal to lift Peru off of last position in the South American rankings.
