Taiwan cheers boxer who won Olympic gold

History was created at the women's 57kg final in Paris 2024 when the referee raised Lin Yu-ting's hand. She had brought Taiwan its first-ever gold medal in the Olympics in boxing.
As millions of people celebrated Lin's triumph and referred to her as a "daughter of Taiwan," Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te said that Lin had made her country proud.
He posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying, "She has overcome misinformation and cyberbullying, turning adversity into victory, with admirable focus and discipline."
