Coe says the sport must embrace change
Sebastian Coe, president of the sport's governing body, believes that in order to prosper, athletes must adapt to shifting audience and sponsor interests.
World Athletics recently revealed intentions to trial the deletion of fouls from the long jump event, and on the eve of the world indoor championships in Glasgow, Coe emphasized that these types of changes must be accepted.
"The holy grail of every sport is to remain relevant, interesting, and exciting to young people; we can't turn a deaf ear in their direction," Coe said at the world championships' opening press conference on Thursday.
