GB's Asher-Smith claims European 100m gold in Rome

In Rome, British teammates Georgia Bell and Lizzie Bird each won silver in the 100m, while Dina Asher-Smith won the gold in the event at the European Athletics Championships.

In 10.99 seconds, Asher-Smith won, beating out Ewa Swoboda of Poland (11.03 seconds) and Zaynab Dosso of Italy. This was Asher-Smith's first major international medal since she won silver in the European 200m in 2022.

After trailing Ireland's Ciara Mageean by four minutes and 53 seconds, Bell won the silver in the women's 1500m, her first major international medal.
