Regan Smith Breaks 100m Backstroke World Record

Swimmer Regan Smith broke the 100m backstroke world record on Tuesday during the US Olympic trials for the Paris Games (July 26 - August 11). With a time of 57.13 seconds, Smith surpassed the record set by Australian Kaylee McKeown (57.33) in October 2023, who swam the same distance in 57.41 seconds at the Australian trials last week. "This was part of the plan," said Smith regarding her regaining the record she held in 2019.
