Daniel Pina Wins Cape Verde First Olympic Medal

Daniel Varela de Pina becomes first Cape Verdean to win a Medal at the Olympic Games.

Pina won Bronze Medal after eliminating Zambia Patrick Chinyemba in the quarters-finals of the Men's 51kg Flyweight boxing event.

He fails to upgrade his Bronze medal to Silver or Gold after losing his Semifinal fight to Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan but Pina has written his name as the first ever Cape Verdean to win a medal in the Olympic Games.
