Ocon has received 'hurtful' abuse since collision

Following his collision with colleague Pierre Gasly during the Monaco Grand Prix, Esteban Ocon, an Alpine driver, claims he has been subjected to "inaccurate, hurtful, and damaging" online criticism.

Despite being instructed by his team to keep station prior to the race, Ocon, 27, was found to be at fault for the crash on the first lap when he attempted to pass his French colleague Gasly.

Although Ocon has stated he will compete in the upcoming Grand Prix in Canada, where he will be assessed a five-place grid penalty for the incident, Alpine chief Bruno Famin stated there would be "consequences" as a result of the incident.
