After Flavio Cobolli retired due to a shoulder injury on Thursday, with the Australian leading 7-6 (2), 3-1, Alex de Minaur advanced to the Vienna Open quarterfinals.
For the ATP Finals in Turin next month, the second-seeded De Minaur is behind Andrey Rublev for the eighth and final position. In order to advance to the semifinals, the Australian will compete against Jakub Mensik, who is 19 years old.
