Swiss Fabian Schar ends international career

As the third experienced player in the group that advanced to the European Championship quarterfinals, Switzerland defender Fabian Schar announced his retirement from the national team on Monday. Schar chose to concentrate on playing club football.
Over the past ten years, Schar, goalkeeper Yann Sommer, and playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri have collectively played in over 300 games for Switzerland, the majority of them with the same squad. All were Basel players when they made their senior international debuts.
