Root leads calls for changes to domestic schedule

Leading players' appeals to rethink a schedule deemed "not fit for purpose" and cut back on domestic cricket are Joe Root.

According to research conducted by the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), 81% of players are concerned about the physical toll that the fixture list would take, and 76% are concerned about traveling in risky conditions between games.

Former England captain Root stated, "It is evident the schedule needs to change for a host of reasons to see long-lasting benefits for English cricket."
