Meet the 16-year-old who broke Usain Bolt’s 200-me

Australian teen sensation Gout Gout went viral last weekend for his blazing-fast speed on the track.

He ran a 10.04 in the 100-meter, and a 20.04 in the 200-meter.

His time in the 100m was so fast, it clocked in as the 4th-fastest time in history by anyone under 18.

Unfortunately, because he had an illegal tailwind, the time didn’t count in the record books.

His 20.04 sec in the 200m, though, was legal - and broke a 56-year-old record for the fastest time in Australian history.

It was the 2nd-fastest time for an under-18 athlete in world history.

And it also broke Usain Bolt’s record for a 16-year-old. A teenage Bolt ran the 200 in 20.13 seconds back in 2003.

Gout Gout is doing all this at just 16 years old. And with his powerful stride and 6-foot frame, it’s possible he can get even faster.

Next up?

He’ll be training with Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles in January.
