'I wondered if I would walk normally again'

As Lisa Aitken of Scotland recovered from a potentially career-ending knee injury, she questioned whether she would ever be able to walk properly again.
After completely rupturing the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments and injuring the meniscus in her knee during a match in late 2022, the 34-year-old underwent three surgeries.
Aitken, who has participated in three Commonwealth Games, will return after nearly two years at the Qatar Classic, which takes place at the Khalifa International Squash Complex in Doha, next week.
