Ahmed Hafnaoui, 800m freestyle world champion

Wednesday, July 26 in Fukuoka, Japan, Ahmed Hafnaoui won the gold medal in the 800m freestyle at the world swimming championships. The 20-year-old Tunisian won with a canonical time of 7mn37s00. The Olympic champion thus signs the third best in the history of the event. He is only behind his compatriot, Mellouli (7mn37s27) and the Chinese Zhang Lin who holds the world record (7mn32s12).
