Chinese badminton players excel at the German Open 2025, with impressive victories by Wang Zhengxing and Chen Yufei.

The Chinese badminton team has made a remarkable start at the German Open 2025 in Mülheim, Germany. In men`s singles, seventh-seed Wang Zhengxing advanced to the second round with a solid victory over Japan`s Kenta Nishimoto, winning 21-15, 21-18. Reigning Olympic champion Chen Yufei showcased her dominance in women`s singles, defeating Thailand`s Busanan Ongbamrungphan 21-14, 21-17.

In mixed doubles, the world number one pair Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong displayed their exceptional skills, overcoming Indonesia`s Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari with a score of 21-16, 21-19. The men`s doubles duo of Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi also progressed, defeating Malaysia`s Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin 21-18, 21-16. Top-seeded women`s doubles pair Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan easily triumphed over Germany`s Linda Efler and Isabel Lohau, winning 21-12, 21-15.

With a total prize pool of US$240,000, the tournament serves as a crucial preparatory event for the upcoming Badminton Asia Championships and the Paris Olympics. Coach Zhang Jun expressed satisfaction with the team`s focus and determination, aiming to maintain their momentum throughout the competition. The tournament continues until March 2, with key matches scheduled for the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals.
