The city of Toronto and its international appeal will also be key in attracting players, with Resch noting that the team will represent not only Toronto but also Canada on a global stage.

The Tempo will learn from the experiences of its expansion sister teams, Golden State and Portland. Golden State, which will enter the league a year earlier, has already selected its first group of players in the expansion draft and will continue to build its roster through free agency and the entry draft. Toronto may have an advantage in attracting veteran players due to the expected salary-cap increase with the new TV rights agreement in 2026.
