England`s athletics team excelled at the Växjö Inomhuskast, setting records and achieving personal bests.
England`s athletics team showcased remarkable talent at the Växjö Inomhuskast indoor throws competition in Sweden, with 15 athletes participating. The event was a resounding success, highlighted by two new indoor British records, four event victories, and eight personal bests.
Alani Dumbuya emerged as a standout performer, significantly improving her shot put personal best to 16.64m, which places her 10th in the European U18 rankings. Harriet Court made headlines by setting a new British indoor record in the U20 javelin with an impressive throw of 48.24m. Jacob Foord also made history, breaking the British U20 indoor discus record with a throw of 53.53m.
The competition saw Godwin Mutandwa clinch the U18 discus title with a throw of 54.41m, just shy of his personal best. Gabi Tcheukam topped the podium in the women`s U18 discus with a season-best throw of 42.47m. The team celebrated multiple podium finishes, including Yasmin Baker`s 3rd place in the U18 shot with a personal best of 13.83m and team captain Issy Stamp`s 2nd place in the U20 shot with a season-best of 12.69m.
Lawson Capes fought hard to secure 2nd place in the U18 shot with a throw of 17.51m, while Moyo Stumpenhuson claimed 3rd in the U18 discus with a throw of 48.24m. Debare Alade, competing for the first time in an England vest, finished 4th in the U20 discus with a throw of 50.37m. The team’s overall performance was not only impressive but also provided invaluable experience for many athletes competing indoors for the first time. Team lead Katie Lambert praised the positive atmosphere and the athletes` mutual support, emphasizing the excellent performances and the learning opportunities that will contribute to their future development.
