Pitt Panthers and UNCW Seahawks excelled in the Louisville Slugger Invitational, showcasing impressive performances and thrilling victories.

Pittsburgh Panthers showcased their talent at the 2025 Louisville Slugger Invitational, splitting their opening day. Gwen Sparks led the charge with a stellar performance, throwing her first career shutout in a 4-0 victory over Cal Poly. Sparks recorded a season-high seven strikeouts, allowing only one hit and three walks. Salenya Daniel contributed significantly, going 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI, while teammates Desirae Martinez, Ahmari Braden, and Camryn Murphy each delivered three-hit games.

In their second matchup, the Panthers faced a setback against Omaha, losing 5-2 after a dramatic three-run walk-off homer by Rylinn Groff. Ana Hernandez provided a bright spot for Pitt with a solo home run, and Kyra Pittman had a commendable outing in the circle before the late-game rally.

Meanwhile, the UNCW Seahawks enjoyed a successful start to their tournament, defeating Queens (N.C.) 11-6 and edging out NC State 5-4, marking their first win over the Wolfpack since 2017. Madison Biddle shone with two home runs and five RBI against Queens, contributing to UNCW`s impressive 14-3 season record.

In other action, Middle Tennessee celebrated two thrilling walk-off victories, while Creighton split their doubleheader at the UC Santa Barbara Tournament, showcasing the competitive spirit of collegiate softball.
