Kubler Claims First Title After Injury Comeback

Jason Kubler triumphs at Burnie International, marking a significant comeback after injury, while Jaimee Fourlis shines in women`s singles.

Jason Kubler showcased his resilience by defeating Omar Jasika 6-3, 6-2 in the final of the Burnie International, marking his first title since returning from a 10-month injury hiatus. The 31-year-old Australian Open 2023 doubles champion`s victory is a significant milestone in his comeback journey, especially after a disappointing first-round exit at the Australian Open 2024. This win adds to Kubler`s impressive tally, bringing his career singles titles to 22.

In the women`s singles, Jaimee Fourlis, ranked world No.332, emerged as Australia`s standout performer, reaching the semifinals and achieving her best Pro Tour result in two years. Meanwhile, the women`s doubles title was clinched by Australia`s Elena Micic, who partnered with New Zealand`s Monique Barry, further solidifying Micic`s recent success after winning the ITF W75 Brisbane trophy.

In men`s doubles, Matt Hulme celebrated his first title of the year alongside New Zealand`s James Watt. As the Australian Pro Tour shifts to Launceston for its final hard-court tournament before the grass season, Omar Jasika will enter as the top seed, looking to avenge his recent defeat to Kubler. The ATP Tour calendar for 2025 is also heating up, with exciting tournaments like the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Mexican Open on the horizon.
