The Cowboys defeated the Storm, while the Knights dominated the Roosters in the Pre-Season Challenge.

The 2025 Witzer Pre-Season Challenge wrapped up with thrilling matches, showcasing emerging talents and established stars. The North Queensland Cowboys defeated the Melbourne Storm 36-24 at Casey Fields, with fullback Scott Drinkwater scoring two tries in the first half. Young halfback Tom Duffy`s standout performance has solidified his bid for the No. 7 jersey ahead of Round 1. Jaxon Purdue also shone at left centre, stepping up in the absence of Valentine Holmes.

Despite the loss, the Storm welcomed back Cameron Munster from major hip surgery, although he had some defensive lapses. Ryan Papenhuyzen missed the match due to ankle and knee issues, while Sua Fa`alogo limped off with a hamstring injury in the second half.

In another highlight, the Newcastle Knights dominated the Sydney Roosters with a commanding 48-10 victory at Industree Group Stadium.
