Elon softball faces North Carolina in a key matchup, highlighting standout players and recent performances.

Elon University`s softball team (5-7) is gearing up to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels (12-3) in a crucial mid-week matchup at Anderson Stadium on Wednesday, February 26, at 6 p.m. Historically, the Tar Heels lead the all-time series 31-6-1, with Elon last claiming victory in Chapel Hill back in 2020.

Elon is coming off a balanced performance at the Clemson Classic, where they went 2-2, including a notable win against Villanova. Sophomore pitcher Lia Miller shone with a career-high seven strikeouts in a complete game against Villanova. Offensively, Chloe Hatzopoulos led the Phoenix with a .364 batting average, including a grand slam and five RBIs, while Allee Seering boasts a .429 batting average and is tied for the team lead with three home runs.

On the other side, North Carolina enters the game riding a three-game winning streak, having gone undefeated at the Carolina Classic, outscoring their opponents 20-0. The Tar Heels are hitting an impressive .343 as a team, with standout sophomore Sanaa Thompson leading with a .452 batting average and 13 RBIs. In the circle, junior Kenna Raye Dark has been dominant, posting a 2.29 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 49.0 innings.
