Akron softball swept Bowling Green in a thrilling doubleheader, highlighted by standout performances from Addie Martin and Mya Perez.

The University of Akron softball team showcased their prowess by sweeping a doubleheader against Bowling Green State University in the Mid-American Conference. In the first game, Akron triumphed with a decisive 10-2 victory after just six innings. The second game proved to be a nail-biter, with Akron securing a 7-6 win despite Bowling Green`s impressive comeback from a four-run deficit to tie the game in the sixth inning. Redshirt freshman Addie Martin stood out for Bowling Green, delivering three extra-base hits and driving in six runs.

In other action, Western Carolina faced a tough challenge against 7/6 Tennessee, suffering a 4-0 shutout. Erin Nuwer dominated the mound for Tennessee, pitching a complete game with an impressive 12 strikeouts. Meanwhile, the University at Albany softball team excelled, shutting out Central Connecticut State University in both games of their doubleheader, with Victoria Vilarchao leading the Great Danes with four RBIs in the first match.

Valparaiso University also had a successful day, sweeping a doubleheader against the University of Illinois at Chicago with scores of 3-2 and 15-3. Carson Kuhlmann made headlines by scoring four runs in the second game, tying a program record. The Southeastern Conference recognized Mya Perez of Texas A&M as the Softball Player of the Week for her outstanding performance, going 11-for-14 over five home games.
