The 2025 CrossFit Open kicks off with Workout 25.1, featuring Rich Froning and elite athletes competing for qualification.

The 2025 CrossFit Open has officially commenced with the unveiling of Workout 25.1, a 15-minute AMRAP featuring lateral burpees over a dumbbell, dumbbell hang clean-to-overheads, and walking lunges. Athletes will face an escalating rep scheme, starting with 3 reps in the first round and increasing by 3 each subsequent round. Men will use a 50 lb (22.5 kg) dumbbell, while women will lift 35 lbs (15 kg).

The workout was live-streamed from CrossFit Mayhem in Tennessee, showcasing elite athletes including Austin Hatfield, Roman Khrennikov, and Haley Adams. In an unexpected twist, former CrossFit champion Rich Froning joined the competition floor, adding excitement to the event. Participants have until 5 PM PT on March 3 to complete and submit their scores for this challenging workout.

As athletes push their limits, they will test their endurance, strength, and coordination, with the increasing rep scheme intensifying the challenge as fatigue sets in. The 2025 CrossFit Open is a global competition where athletes of all levels aim to qualify for the prestigious CrossFit Games. With two more workouts on the horizon, competitors are eager to climb the worldwide leaderboard.
