Makai McNamara`s dramatic Pipeline rescue highlights the surfing community`s support and upcoming events like Pro Taghazout Bay.

Pro surfer Makai McNamara was rescued unresponsive from Pipeline on Oahu`s North Shore after a wipeout in 8-10 foot surf. Lifeguards swiftly secured him onto a rescue board and paddled him to shore, where Honolulu Ocean Safety staff performed CPR and utilized an AED. After several rounds, McNamara regained a pulse and was transported to Queen`s Medical Center in critical condition.

His father, Liam McNamara, reported that his son is "doing well" and on the road to recovery in the ICU, where he will remain asleep for 72 hours to heal. Makai`s brother, Landon, who recently won the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, expressed gratitude to first responders and fellow surfers for their life-saving efforts.

As the surfing community rallies around McNamara, attention shifts to upcoming events like the Pro Taghazout Bay QS 3,000 in Morocco. This competition is part of the 2025 Qualifying Series calendar, where surfers aim to earn points for Championship Tour qualification. Meanwhile, the Surfing Federation of India has announced its 2025 National Surfing and Stand-Up Paddle Event Calendar, featuring nine national-level competitions, highlighting the growth of surfing in the country.
