Squash Champions Emerge in Recent Tournaments

The squash world has witnessed several exciting tournaments and matches since October 6, 2024, with notable victories and upsets.

At the 2024 Open Squash Classic in New York, top seeds Marwan ElShorbagy and Farida Mohamed claimed the titles. Marwan ElShorbagy defeated France’s Victor Crouin in the men’s final, securing his first World Tour title since 2022. ElShorbagy won the match 3-1, acknowledging Crouin’s strong performance throughout the tournament.

In the women’s final, Farida Mohamed swept past Hong Kong’s Ka Yi Lee with a 3-0 victory. Lee had earlier stunned several higher-seeded players, including Nada Abbas and Hollie Naughton, to reach the final.

In another significant event, the QTerminals Qatar Classic saw Peruvian World Champion Diego Elias and Egypt’s world No.1 Nour El Sherbini capture the titles. Elias ended Ali Farag’s title defense, while El Sherbini battled past Georgina Kennedy to reach the semis and eventually win the tournament.

At the Silicon Valley Open, Youssef Soliman mounted a remarkable comeback to defeat Karim Abdel Gawad in the quarter-finals, coming back from 2-0 down and 9-6 down to win in five games.
