The 2025 CrossFit Open sees a drop in returning athletes, with new participants bringing fresh energy to the competition.

The 2025 CrossFit Open has experienced a notable shift in participation, with only 42% of last year`s athletes returning. Out of nearly 200,000 registered athletes from the 2024 Open, just 143,790 have come back for this year`s competition. However, the event has welcomed 65,439 newcomers, bringing the total number of registered athletes to an impressive 235,303.

Prominent athletes such as Scott Tetlow, Mallory O`Brien, and Kara Saunders have opted not to register for the 2025 Open, leaving fans curious about the competition landscape. The Open workouts feature a variety of challenging exercises, including burpees and dumbbell hang clean-to-overheads, designed to cater to different skill levels.

The average age of new participants stands at 34.7 years, with a strong representation from the United States, France, and the UK. As the competition unfolds, the focus remains on measurable fitness improvements, aligning with CrossFit`s core principles of being observable, measurable, and repeatable. This year`s Open promises to be a thrilling showcase of athleticism and determination.
