The NSL 2025 season introduces new teams and the Super Shot rule, enhancing fan engagement and competition.

The Netball Super League (NSL) is set for an exciting transformation in the 2025 season, drawing inspiration from the WNBA to enhance its appeal. With a reduction in teams from 10 to eight, Nottingham Forest Netball and Birmingham Panthers are joining the league, while Team Bath, Severn Stars, Strathclyde Sirens, and Surrey Storm will not participate. This strategic shift aims to create a more competitive environment and attract a broader fan base.

To elevate the match-day experience, 50% of the games will be held in major arenas, promising an electrifying atmosphere that resonates with younger and female audiences. NSL managing director Claire Nelson emphasized the importance of crafting unmissable experiences that intertwine netball with fashion, music, and lifestyle.

A significant addition to the gameplay is the introduction of the Super Shot rule, allowing teams to score two-goal shots from a designated area during the last five minutes of each quarter. This rule, previously seen in Australia’s Suncorp Super Netball, is expected to add a thrilling dynamic to the matches. The revamped season will kick off with the inaugural Super Cup, broadcast live on Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports’ YouTube channel starting March 8.
