Two former #police officers and a former #lawyer were acquitted on Wednesday of #obstructing the exercise of #justice in the investigation into the #hillsborough #tragedy, which killed 96 supporters of the Liverpool football club (North of l 'England) in 1989.

Former police officers #donald #denton, 83, and #alan #foster, 74, as well as now retired lawyer #peter #metcalf, 71, who represented authorities at the time, were accused of altering police statements after the tragedy, with the aim of minimizing criticism of the police.
