Mercy Lacrosse Battles Hard, Bergersen Shines

Mercy Lacrosse faces challenges, with standout performances from Bergersen and Rusterucci, while Siena rallies against Dartmouth.

Mercy University men`s lacrosse team is making waves, currently ranked No. 10 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Top 20 Poll and No. 17 in the USILA Top 20 Poll. Despite a tough loss to the top-ranked Adelphi, Christopher Bergersen showcased his skills by leading the team with three points, while Owen Stephenson made a significant impact with four caused turnovers.

In a thrilling match, Siena Men`s Lacrosse fought valiantly against Dartmouth, rallying from a 10-goal deficit to close the gap, ultimately losing 16-13. Pratt Reynolds was a standout performer, scoring four goals in the final quarter, igniting hopes of a comeback.

Luke Rusterucci of VMI is having a remarkable season, averaging seven points per game, placing him just behind Cornell`s CJ Kirst in Division I. His contributions have been pivotal in VMI`s strong start, boasting a 4-1 record.

In the CAA Men`s Lacrosse, Max Semple of Drexel earned the Offensive Player of the Week title after netting 10 goals across two games. Meanwhile, Owen Hirsch of Fairfield and Kevin Ellington of Delaware shared the Defensive Player of the Week honors. The Liberty League also recognized Joseph Perry of RPI for his outstanding defensive performance in men`s lacrosse.
