Houshmand shines at the Rio Pro, advancing alongside Colapinto as top surfers battle for glory.

The Rio Pro event has erupted into thrilling action, with Olympic Silver Medalist and 2021 World Title runner-up Houshmand showcasing his prowess. The San Clemente surfer delivered a stunning performance, easily overcoming two-time World Champion Tyler Wright and Simmers. Houshmand described his heat as a quick yet exhilarating experience, catching both waves in under two minutes, electrifying a massive crowd that transformed the venue into a vibrant stadium atmosphere.

Fellow San Clemente talent Crosby Colapinto also shone brightly, advancing to the Round of 16 after a fierce battle against notable competitors, including back-to-back Rio Pro Finalist Yago Dora and wildcard Peterson Crisanto, who earned his place through an impressive Challenger Series run.

Brazilian icons Filipe Toledo and Italo Ferreira, both World Champions, made their mark in the Opening Round, with Toledo, a four-time Rio Pro winner, dazzling in a heat that included João Chianca and Griffin Colapinto.
