Liverpool turn down chance to sign Gordon

Newcastle United made a proposal that included Anthony Gordon joining the Reds and Jarell Quansah moving the other way as part of the deal, but Liverpool rejected it.

Despite their admiration for the 23-year-old attacker Gordon, the Anfield team did not think the transaction was a good fit for them.

Gordon, who signed a £45 million contract with the Magpies in January 2023, is a member of the England team competing at Euro 2024. He made his tournament debut on Tuesday, a goalless draw with Slovenia, as a late substitution.
