AFL Mourns Loss of Geelong Legend Mick Turner

:The Australian Football League (AFL) is mourning the loss of Michael 'Mick' Turner, a legendary figure of the Geelong Football Club, who passed away on Monday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Turner, 70, was a highly respected player, mentor, and contributor to the sport.

Turner's career with Geelong was illustrious, having played 245 games and scored 285 goals. He was named an All Australian in 1979 and was Geelongā€™s leading goal kicker in 1982. Post his playing career, Turner continued to impact the game significantly as the Talent Manager for the Geelong Falcons, helping numerous players, including Gary Ablett Jnr, Cameron Ling, Patrick Dangerfield, Nina Morrison, and Jimmy Bartel, achieve their dreams in the AFL and AFLW.

The Geelong Football Club paid heartfelt tributes to Turner, highlighting his profound influence both on and off the field. He was recently awarded AFL life membership for his contributions to the Geelong Football Club and the broader community, an honor he was made aware of before his passing.

Turner's legacy extends beyond his playing days, as he is remembered as a skilful player, a passionate Geelong person, and a mentor to many. His impact on the lives of many in the Geelong community will be deeply felt.
