Gauff cruises past Yastremska into fourth round

With a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine on Friday, American third seed Coco Gauff advanced to the French Open fourth round and took a step toward breaking her three-year claycourt slump.



The 2022 US Open champion, who had last triumphed on the surface in 2021 and had advanced to the final of the French Open, played a strong first set against Yastremska, an unexpected Australian Open semifinalist, before faltering momentarily in the second.
